Professional facilities staff provide guidance in all stages of a project, helping provide the most favorable outcomes in support of the campus community. Assigned project planners and managers assist in developing the scope, budget and timelines for each project while simultaneously seeking feedback from campus stakeholders prior to final approvals.
Project Request Workflow
-
Prior to submitting a request, department or college/school representatives contact their respective dean to gain approval for the merit and details of the project request. A memo stating dean support for the project must be uploaded online. The Campus Construction Management (CCM) group can be reached at facilitiesrequests@tamu.edu if there are any questions about the form or process.
Facilities Project Request Form
Projects will be reviewed and classified by the CCM team to determine the need to go through a full or abbreviated project request process. This decision is dependent upon cost and complexity.
-
Step 2
Planners assist in developing the initial concepts and project classification to ensure proper routing and approvals are acquired to maintain alignment with the university’s vision.
This includes review by the Facility Stakeholder Advisory panel made up of representatives from the Council of Deans, Faculty Senate, Executive Committee of Staff Council, Executive Committee of Student Government Association and Executive Committee of Graduate and Professional Student Government.
-
The CCM team reviews all submissions, along with other operations and financial stakeholders, to develop a scope and budget. This stage includes a technical review and allows for input from the original requestor. Estimated timeline: about one to six months.
-
The final submittal is sent to the Executive Review Board for recommendation to move forward. Estimated timeline: about one month.
The Executive Review Board consists of the Provost, Vice President for Academic Affairs, Chief Operating Officer and Senior Vice President, Vice President for Finance and Chief Financial Officer, Vice President for Faculty Affairs and Vice President for Student Affairs.
-
Recommendations are submitted to the president of Texas A&M University for final approval.
-
For projects greater than $4 million, the president will present the submittal to the Board of Regents for approval. Estimated timeline: up to three months.
-
A professional construction manager is assigned to guide the project to completion.
Project reviews and approvals will be aligned with board meeting schedules for The Texas A&M University System Board of Regents. The project’s size and scope may affect timelines.
Executive Facilities Committee
Depending on the scope of a project, the Executive Facilities Committee (EFC) may need to provide additional review. Learn more about how the EFC supports collaborative project evaluation and provides guidance in next steps.
